PORTLAND, OREGON — May 12, 2005 — Following up on its successful launch of the mobile Content Filtering Interface (CFI) in 2004, RuleSpace announced today the commercial release of the next version of the CFI with support for realtime analysis of mobile content.
The RuleSpace Realtime Mobile Analysis Toolkit (RMAT) function in the CFI gives carriers and system integrator the ability to rate mobile content on the fly to scan it for inappropriate content. Unlike keyword detectors, the RMAT technology is fully aware of context, and has a very low false positive rate. RuleSpace employees spent months searching the mobile Internet for adult content, which then has been used to train the RMAT’s underlying neural net based artificial intelligence to correctly categorize pornography on the fly. This method allows RuleSpace to effectively block dynamically generated pornography as well as static pornography sites, regardless of the site being known in the RuleSpace Master Database.
“RuleSpace took the lead in the mobile space in 2004 with the release of the first mobile–specific parental controls solution. The release of realtime analyzers for mobile content firmly places RuleSpace in the leadership position to power the parental controls for the mobile carriers.” Alistair Allan, RuleSpace President and CEO, said. “The launch of the RMAT functionality gives our customers another carrier–grade tool to provide scalable and effective parental controls.”
The RMAT is available immediately for carriers and systems integrators. Used in conjunction with the RuleSpace Online Lookup Service, the RMAT provides the most accurate categorization product for mobile content available.
The initial release of the RMAT provides realtime recognition of pornographic content in English. Support for Russian, Chinese and Japanese will follow in the second half of 2005. These new realtime raters will greatly improve the existing support of over 15 languages for pre–categorized mobile sites already available via the Online Lookup Service.
